Barbados Palms and beach [Back to Top of Page]
One of the Caribbean's most popular escapes, Barbados embraces both its British hertiage and its capitivating natural beauty.

Andromeda Gardens, Harrison's Cave and the Barbados Wildlife Reserve are just a few of the many places to enjoy the island's natural charms.  Barbados also has some of the best windsurfing conditions and plenty of superb beaches.

Barbados is a relatively flat island with an abundant supply of large gradually sloping beaches fringing the land. In some areas, notably the North, coral and sandstone cliffs rise straight out of the sea reaching several hundred feet in height. In the South West, cliffs of 50 to 100 feet rise and fall along the coast separated by small sandy beaches and bays.

Rocky coastlineIn the flatter South West and West coasts, you may walk for miles along unbroken white sand beaches, sometimes stopping at a cluster of coral rocks jutting out to sea. All along the shore large and small beaches are broken by coral formations, the soft coral rocks weather by the ocean surf, forming abstract sculptures to an artist's eye.

Reflecting the island's British influence, the goverment of Barbados is housed in Parliament and a statue of Lord Nelson presides over the island's own version of Trafalgar Square. Barbados even has a district of rolling green hills called Scotland.  Savor the pleasures on Barbados, where surf, sun and sophistication go hand in hand.

Antigua & BarbudaCrystal clear waters [Back to Top of Page]
Antigua (pronounced An-tee'ga) and Barbuda are located in the middle of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean, roughly 17 degrees north of the equator. To the south are the islands of Montserrat and Guadaloupe, and to the north and west are Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barts, and St. Martin.  Antigua, the largest of the British Leeward Islands, is about 14 miles long and 11 miles wide, encompassing 108 square miles. Its highest point is Boggy Peak (1319 ft.), located in the southwestern corner of the island. Barbuda, a flat coral island with an area of only 68 square miles, lies approximately 30 miles due north. The nation also includes the tiny (0.6 square mile) uninhabited island of Redonda, now a nature preserve. The current population for the nation is approximately 68,000 and its capital is St. John's on Antigua.

Nelson's dockyardThe largest of the British Leeward Islands had warm, steady winds, a complex coastline of safe harbors, and a protective, nearly unbroken wall of coral reef. It would make a perfect place to hide a fleet. And so in 1784 the legendary Admiral Horatio Nelson sailed to Antigua and established Great Britain's most important Caribbean base. Little did he know that over 200 years later the same unique characteristics that attracted the Royal Navy would transform Antigua and Barbuda in one of the Caribbean's premier tourist destinations.

The Trade Winds that once blew British men-of-war safely into English Harbour now fuel one of the world's foremost maritime events,Palms and mountains Sailing Week. The expansive, winding coastline that made Antigua difficult for outsiders to navigate is where today's trekkers encounter a tremendous wealth of secluded, powdery soft beaches. The coral reefs, once the bane of marauding enemy ships, now attract snorkelers and scuba divers from all over the world. And the fascinating little island of Barbuda -- once a scavenger's paradise because so many ships wrecked on its reefs -- is now home to one of the region's most significant bird sanctuaries.

Blessed with the perfect location--less than 100 miles off the coast of Florida; the perfect climate-- averaging a little over 75 degrees; the perfect surroundings--crystal clear turquoise blue waters and pearly white beaches.
There are over 700 islands in The Bahamas, many of which have escaped the notice of tourists

Each of the Islands of The Bahamas is unique with their individual character and charm. Visit the main islands like beautiful Grand Bahama (Freeport/Lucaya) Dolphins jumpingand bustling New Providence (Nassau and Paradise Island). The Out Islands feature a layed-back, relaxing way of life which is a vast difference from the fast-paced lifestyle of New Providence and Grand Bahama. Or, if you really want to get away from the crowds, visit one of the many out islands like Abaco, Andros, Acklins and Crooked Island, Biminis, Berry Islands, Cat Island, Eleuthera, Exumas, Inaguas , Mayaguana, and San Salvador.

The islands differ physically: pine forests, white sandy beaches, limestone caves, lush plantations, bonefishing flats and the world's third largest barrier reef.Pink sand

They differ historically: Indigenous Arawak Indians, Seminole Indians from Florida, Eleutheran Adventurers from England, post-Revolutionary planters from Carolina and pirates all settled here. Even Columbus paid us a visit in 1492. Most Bahamians are of African descent -- about 85 percent. Some families have been Bahamian for over two centuries. The Islands of the Bahamas is the perfect destination for your next siesta, honeymoon, or family vacation.
